Although born & raised in Long Island, New York, Rosalie & her husband, John, visited a friend in Texas and decided Weatherford was the place for them. They moved here in 1979 and raised their three children who are artists, musicians, photographers, and marathon cyclists. Rosalie and her husband are also cyclists and hikers. Rosalie was an avid runner, and ran the Ft. Worth Cowtown Marathon. She is presently learning to play the guitar. Both John and Rosalie are retired; John keeps busy doing remodeling, while Rosalie volunteers at the Fire House Gallery where she also teaches Tuesday evenings. Rosalie also teaches art at the retirement community of Hill Villa in Fort Worth each month. Rosalie is self-taught and has been drawing since the age of ten. Her favorite medium is pencil however she also works in oil, watercolor and acrylics. Her subject matter varies, and it determines the medium she uses. After raising children, Rosalie worked as a secretary for a Fort Worth appraisal office for 15 years. In 2001 she visited the Fire House Gallery. There she met Judy Mason and Betty Dickens, both encouraged her to join. She did so, and has been active in various capacities. This year she is secretary, which involves doing the newsletter. In 2006 Rosalie won the Betty Murray Award; in 2007 she was Artist of the Year, and she has been Artist of the Month twice. Rosalie’s goals are and to increase my knowledge and expertise in art and “to play the guitar well enough not to embarrass myself.”We will have to run to keep us with her!
