Rebecca (Becky) Glasgow was born in Fulton, Kentucky, and moved to Fort Worth with her mother at the age of twelve. In
college Rebecca majored in business and later worked for 36 years for the Department of Defense, starting as a clerk and ending as a contacting officer. Marvin Glasgow, Rebecca’s husband of 27 years is also a W.A.A. member and the mayor of Willow Park.
Rebecca has two stepchildren & 3 grandchildren.
Though always interested in art, Rebecca didn’t start her painting career until 1991. Oils are her favorite medium, but she
also uses acrylics and charcoal..Former teachers include Martha Spurlock, Marie Stevenson, James Spurlock, and Justine Preston. Her specialties are still lifes and portraits. Rebecca says painting energizes her. ”I pray over all my paintings and feel
God has really helped me.” Rebecca is a member of the Texas Artists Coalition and member and past officer o;f the WAÅ.
In addition to painting, Rebecca enjoys Community Bible Study, reading working in her church library, and traveling.
She has been to Israel, Denmark, Alaska twice, and is headed to Santa Fe in August.
Awards won are Best of Show and People’s Choice awards at the 2011 Arte de los Brazos show at Possum Kingdom, WAA Artist of the Year, 2009, WAA’s Presidents Award, numerous 1st places, and many more. Her works are at the Crystal Moon Gallery, Firehouse Art Gallery, Clear Fork Station, and Los Vaqueros Restaurant.
Goals are to have a one-person show, be in a Southwest Art Magazine, and sell more paintings — all within reach for this artist!
