Born in Fort Worth with one sister, 3 brothers and an artistic mother, Colleen has been married (47 yrs.) to Eric, a career Air Force man, and has 2 sons & 5 grandchildren ranging from 6 to 17  years old.

Colleen is a TCU cum laude graduate with an education major and secondary certification in art & computer.  For 3 yrs. Colleen taught in the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw ISD and worked for Lockheed, retiring as a systems engineer in 2005.
After a 20 yr. break, Colleen started painting again in 2000 when a friend invited her to the Society of Watercolor Association.  She became their photographer, did their catalogs worked on their website, organized & hung their shows, and was president in 2004-2005.  Colleen is a signature member of SWA and one of only four artists who has earned (2011) a lifetime honorary membership for her many contributions.
A member of the Weatherford Art Association for 11 yrs., Colleen was vice president of workshops & classes, teaches a Thursday class, & was instrumental in compiling the WAA cookbook to raise  funds to move into the Firehouse Art Center.  Besides being a WAA Artist of the Month in 2011, Colleen won first place in Life Portrait in the Trinity Art Guild in Euless, and won the Purchase Award in the 2011 Kansas National Watercolor Show.
In addition to painting and studying on her own, Colleen has done two workshops with Lauren McCracken, studied 2 yrs. with Soon Warren, a national artist & author, and taken numerous other workshops.  Although watercolor is Colleen’s specialty, she also works in other mediums – the combination of acrylic & pastel is a present interest.  She is a realistic painter & paints from her own photos.  Colleen claims that signing her paintings is the hardest part.  Go figure!  Her goal in 2012 is to enter more national shows.
Colleen’s creativity is also expressed in woodworking, quilting & marbleizing.  She & Eric added on to their Lake Weatherford cabin with Colleen building cabinets, furniture & even laying tile.
In September, Colleen entered her handmade quilt in the Parker County Quilt Show & won honorable mention. Marbleizing paper and fabrics is a fun project she enjoys with her granddaughter. So, if you need someone to help you build a house, create your furniture, make quilts for your beds & paint pictures for your walls —— Colleen is your woman!

Carroll Richardson, born & raised in Fort Worth, comes from a long line of Texans.  Although his two sisters and brother are deceased and Carroll is single with no children, he has a number of relatives in the area.  For 25 years Carroll worked in a machine shop, progressing to furniture and woodworking where he became a furniture sample maker for a company supplying hotels and motels. Moving from the shop to the office, Carroll made furniture-design drawings on the computer. His last position was as a computer designer of store fixtures, shelving and display pieces.  Now retired, Carroll divides his time with exercise (3 times a week at the YMCA), biking, walking, camping, reading (mysteries), and art.  As a child, Carroll was encouraged to draw by his mother, especially when the weather kept him inside.  That interest didn’t progress until he went to a SWA meeting, and there he found a artist in his  neighborhood (Dan Brown) who gave him lessons for several years.  That led to workshops with Doug Prine (Texas), Thomas Owen (Colorado), and Gerald Brommer (California).  Brommer’s emphasis was how to put emotion into paintings to make a connection with the viewer.  Presently he’s taking lessons from Martha Spurlock who is helping him produce more colorful paintings which he’s enjoying. Besides being a member of Weatherford Art Association, Carroll also belongs to the Fort Worth chapter of the Society of Watercolor Artists (SWA) and has been a member in both for 8 years.  Carroll’s favorite medium is watercolor although he enjoys pencil & oils.  His favorite subject is landscape, especially drawing & painting plein air.

Awards include 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place in WAA’s Artist of the Month competition and two Honorable Mentions at the Possum Kingdom show, Art De Los Brazos.  Currently his work can be seen at Kelly Telgenhoff’s Stone Creek Fine Art Gallery.

Although born & raised in Long Island, New York, Rosalie & her husband, John, visited a friend in Texas and decided Weatherford was the place for them. They moved here in 1979 and raised their three children who are artists, musicians, photographers, and marathon cyclists. Rosalie and her husband are also cyclists and hikers. Rosalie was an avid runner, and ran the Ft. Worth Cowtown Marathon. She is presently learning to play the guitar. Both John and Rosalie are retired; John keeps busy doing remodeling, while Rosalie volunteers at the Fire House Gallery where she also teaches Tuesday evenings. Rosalie also teaches art at the retirement community of Hill Villa in Fort Worth each month. Rosalie is self-taught and has been drawing since the age of ten. Her favorite medium is pencil however she also works in oil, watercolor and acrylics. Her subject matter varies, and it determines the medium she uses. After raising children, Rosalie worked as a secretary for a Fort Worth appraisal office for 15 years. In 2001 she visited the Fire House Gallery. There she met Judy Mason and Betty Dickens, both encouraged her to join. She did so, and has been active in various capacities. This year she is secretary, which involves doing the newsletter. In 2006 Rosalie won the Betty Murray Award; in 2007 she was Artist of the Year, and she has been Artist of the Month twice. August Demonstration
Beth Pritchard gave us a fabulous demonstration in
pastels. Her art is truly inspiring. She takes great pain
to achieve a very realistic piece. Most of her pieces are
flowers that seem to bloom right before your eyes.
She uses Kitty Wallace paper, which has a sandpaper-like
quality. Once the pastel has been applied, she uses a brush
to retrieve the “tooth.” Beth frames all of her work without
spraying the finished drawing.

Rebecca (Becky) Glasgow was born in Fulton, Kentucky, and moved to Fort Worth with her mother at the age of twelve.  In

college Rebecca majored in business and later worked for 36 years for the Department of Defense, starting as a clerk and  ending as a contacting officer.  Marvin Glasgow, Rebecca’s husband of 27 years is also a W.A.A. member and the mayor of Willow Park.

Rebecca  has two stepchildren & 3 grandchildren.

Though always interested in art, Rebecca didn’t  start her painting career until 1991.  Oils are her favorite medium, but she
also  uses acrylics and charcoal..Former teachers  include Martha Spurlock, Marie Stevenson, James Spurlock, and Justine Preston.  Her specialties are  still lifes and portraits.  Rebecca says   painting energizes her.  ”I pray over all my paintings and feel
God  has really helped me.”  Rebecca is a member of the Texas   Artists Coalition and member and past officer o;f the  WAÅ.
In addition to painting,  Rebecca  enjoys Community Bible Study,  reading  working in her church library, and traveling.
She has been to Israel, Denmark, Alaska twice, and is headed to Santa Fe in August.
Awards  won are Best of Show and People’s Choice  awards at the 2011 Arte de los Brazos show  at  Possum  Kingdom, WAA Artist of the Year, 2009,  WAA’s Presidents Award, numerous  1st places, and many more.  Her works  are at the Crystal Moon Gallery, Firehouse Art Gallery, Clear Fork  Station, and Los Vaqueros Restaurant.
Goals are to  have a one-person show, be in a Southwest Art Magazine, and sell more paintings  — all within reach for this artist!

Mike McCarty, a WAA past president, was born, raised, and educated in Texas.  He  graduated  from UTA in 1978 with a degree
in  architecture, did  graduate work at University of Texas, and has been a registered, self-employed architect in Weatherford since 1985.  In his words, he’s  ”the perpetual employee of the month.”  Mike and wife Christy have two grown  children:  Austin  and
Meredith.  When asked about his accomplishments, he responded, “two good kids.”

Mike, a self-taught artist, enjoys  watercolors  and pencil drawing.  After rigid and exacting architecture, Mike likes the freedom
of  watercolors.  Structural landscapes,  buildings with some abstract reality, and the play of light interest him and infuse his paintings.  It’s obviously a winning combination since he won first place several  years ago in the Peach Festival.

Other   interests are constructing, gardening, and quilting, a skill learned from his mother.  Both Christy and Mike  belong  to
the Quilter’s Guild  of Parker County.  The design aspect and playing with the color values  make quilting  interesting  to him.
Mike’s  creativity spills over from his work to his yard, his house, his hobbies,  and community involvement   —  all in a constructive
way which is very appropriate  for an architect.

Diane Brown was born in Ellsworth, Kansas, and lived with her family of seven until at age seven, they all moved to Denver.  She received  a art scholarship which lasted
until the thought of supporting herself prompted a switch from art to elementary
education.  After graduation she taught  5th grade for several  years in Kansas.Husband, Thomas, a civil engineer, and Diane have three sons.  Two sons attend the University of Tulsa Law School, and the youngest  is a  Aledo High School senior.
Diane’s interests are drawing, crafts, cooking and reading, especially art books.
Diane says she has drawn since she could hold a pencil and has practiced all her life. After moving here from Denver  ten years ago, Diane  quickly joined WAA.  Diane’s  main medium is watercolor  and is basically self-taught.  Diane has won a first place in watercolor at the Peach Festival, been  a WAA Artist of the Month, and participated in various shows.  Her paintings are at the Crystal Moon Gallery in Fort Worth, the Lapp Professional Building, and the Fire House.Diane says she’s amazed and inspired by the skill and creativity of the WAA artists.  She fits right in!
